We Do Not Store Pasted Messages
ScamChecked does not store the messages you paste into our service in our own database. When you submit a message for analysis, it is:
- Sent to OpenAI's API for analysis
- Not saved to our servers or databases
- Only temporarily held in your browser's local storage (session data) until you clear it or start a new check
What This Means for Data Deletion
Since we do not store your pasted messages, there is no message data for us to delete from our systems. However, you should be aware that:
- OpenAI: May retain API logs containing your message text for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring purposes
- Your browser: Session data stored locally in your browser can be cleared by you at any time
- Analytics: Vercel Analytics session data is automatically discarded after 24 hours
How to Clear Your Local Data
To clear session data stored in your browser:
- Use the "Start new check" button on our service, which clears your session
- Clear your browser's local storage for our website
- Clear all browser data (cookies and site data) for scamchecked.com
Requesting Deletion of Other Data
If you have concerns about data processing or wish to request deletion of other data (such as analytics data or payment metadata), please contact us at [email protected].
We will respond to your request within 30 days as required by UK GDPR and GDPR.

Under UK GDPR and GDPR, you have the right to:
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Request access to your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Object to processing of your data
- Request restriction of processing

Third-Party Data Retention
Please note that we cannot control data retention by third-party services:
- OpenAI: Retains API logs for up to 30 days (unless legally required longer, or if you qualify for zero retention)
- Stripe: Retains payment data according to their policies and legal requirements
- Vercel: Analytics sessions are discarded after 24 hours
